Information Modeling

BIM or Building Information Modeling is increasingly a necessity on many construction projects. The more complex the project, the more benefits are realized by all the participants from the Owner to the Contractors. These benefits are realized through lower construction cost, faster timelines and higher quality that is realized by ensuring that all parts will fit together as envisaged and the sequencing of the construction will not be hampered due to clashes between various trades.

Our expertise in BIM extends across
multiple areas pertaining to BIM

Architectural, Structural & MEP BIM Model Development

Architectural, Structural &
MEP BIM Model Development

BIM models are essential for many projects where architects and contractors have adopted BIM through the construction project to create efficiencies. We support contractors during design/development by updating the BIM models as it goes through changes and in adding to the details of the model as the design progresses from the LOD 200 stage at the start of the project to the LOD 500 stage required by some trades for proper fabrication and installation.

Point Cloud to As-Built BIM models

Point Cloud to As-Built
BIM models

In construction situations that plan to use laser scanning for as-built field dimensions, or for other situations that involve space accounting using BOMA standards, we have been able to use the point cloud data to develop or update BIM models to provide the necessary output.

Facility Management Data Models

Facility Management
Data Models

BIM models when used post-construction during the operations stage, can deliver substantial efficiencies to the Facility Manager of the building. The can provide a ready source of asset and construction related specifications and maintenance support information. Owners of projects have the option to enhance the BIM models, that were developed to support construction with actual As-Built dimensions as well as data about all the assets that were deployed in the building. Once these BIM models are created, they can be hosted in the cloud on Autodesk Cloud to be accessible on-demand to support the operations. We are able to support creation of data requirements as per the COBIE format if required by the project.

Commercial Kitchens BIM Model Development

Commercial Kitchens BIM
Model Development

Commercial Kitchens have specialized requirements of various equipment and assets. During the design construction process the use of BIM allows for more efficiencies and speed. Clashes as well as any space constraints that result from the placement can be better visualized through the 3D elements rather than conventional 2D drawings. We have substantial experience in developing commercial kitchen models along with the underlying MEP and Fire system layouts needed.

BIM Object Creation for Manufacturers

BIM Object Creation
for Manufacturers

Revit family of objects are an essential constituent needed for developing BIM models. While Autodesk itself provide generic families and objects with Revit, most construction projects require the development of BIM models with families that are provided by the manufacturers of the various products that are to be deployed for the construction of the building. Examples of these can range from Metal panels for exteriors to Chillers used for HVAC.

In addition to the building itself, various specialized assets and equipment that are used within the building for applications such as Kitchens, Medical Facilities, Educational institutions, Retail locations are often required. These can be items such as CTScan equipment, Desks and tables, Street lights etc.

We are experienced in working with manufacturers to define the right levels of families that suit the needs of their users. There is a fine balance between the detail level and information in the BIM family and its size that can weigh on the model created. We provide the necessary experience to help the manufacturer arrive at the right BIM families to best serve their customers.

Co-ordination and Clash Detection Services

Co-ordination and Clash
Detection Services

Most GC companies have Virtual BIM coordinators that play the role of co-ordinator in pulling together the BIM models from the various trades to assess the clashes that occur between them and to work with them to ensure that these clashes are resolved prior to construction. These are done through co-ordination meetings which are typically held online with participation from the various trades.

Our experience allows us to serve either as the Virtual BIM coordinator to run such meetings and record the clashes, with the intent to help resolve them quickly. Alternatively we are also experienced in representing the individual trade contractors who might not have the necessary resources, to attend these co-ordination meetings on their behalf and help navigate through the resolution of such clashes.
